Based in Nashville, TN, folk-hop band Judah & The Lion jumped onto our radar with their incredibly upbeat folk single “Rich Kids”. Featuring an infectious melody, upbeat tempo, and harmonizing vocals, “Rich Kids” is a track that had us hooked from the second we pressed play

8. The Mispers- Brothers

One of the first folk singles we featured on The Undiscovered, The Mispers “Brothers” is still one of the most played tracks on my Spotify today. With it’s fast-paced melody and catchy chorus, it should be no surprise that The Mispers find themselves at the #8 spot on our Top Songs of 2014 countdown.

7. Whysowhite- Get Busy

At first glance, you might think that Chicago based funk/hip-hop group Whysowhite was an acid rock band of some sort, not a funk/hip-hop band. However, once you hit play on “Get Busy” it all begins to make sense as they deliver some of the best hip-hop and funk music we’ve heard in 2014.

6. Rose’s Pawn Shop- What Were You Waiting For

The highest placing folk song on our Top 50 Songs of 2014 countdown, Rose’s Pawn Shop quickly grabbed our attention with their high energy single “What Were You Waiting For”. An emotionally charged song, “What Were You Waiting For” is well deserving of the #6 spot on our countdown.

Raz Simone may have been our favorite rapper of 2014, but The Remnant delivered our favorite hip-hop single of 2014 in “Summer Dog Days”. From start to finish “Summer Dog Days” delivered a high-quality hip-hop single that had us pressing play over and over again, day after day.

4. Sheppard- Geronimo

Times like these are why I love running this website. When we first came across Australian-based indie pop group Sheppard, their song “Geronimo” only had a few thousand views on it. Today, the song has well over 5 million and has been featured on a number of different TV shows, and even in a viral lip-dub proposal. Just press play and you’ll see why “Geronimo” cracked our top 5.

3. Porter Robinson- Lionhearted ft. Urban Core

Without question, 2014 was the year EDM producer/DJ Porter Robinson solidified himself as one of the biggest up and coming names in the genre. His incredible debut full album wowed fans and critics everywhere and his single “Lionhearted” won fans over not just in the EDM genre, but others as well. At the young age of 22, the sky is the limit for this talented producer.

Before we introduce our #1 song from 2014, I want to say that this was by no means an easy decision. Between the #2 spot and #1, I tossed and turned several times before making my final decision. Both could have easily been slotted at number one, but ultimately I felt one song stood above the rest.

So without further ado, I present to you the #1 song on our Top 50 Songs of 2014:

 

1. Misterwives- Reflections

Boy oh boy is this song fantastic, and well deserving of the #1 spot on our Top 50 Songs of 2014. Brought to us by the up-and-coming NYC-based, electro/funk/indie group Misterwives, “Reflections” delivers one of the most infectious singles of 2014. From the second you press play, “Reflections” pumps out the feel good vibes and presents listeners with an amazingly addictive track. Since we featured Misterwives on The Undiscovered, “Reflections” took off, reaching well over 1 million views on YouTube and becoming a dance and party anthem for people throughout the world.
