Prepare yourself for amazing
This past week, a Jimmy Fallon & The Root’s cover version of Meghan Trainor’s smash hit “All About That Bass” went viral. While the version was impressive and featured Meghan Trainor herself, I personally enjoyed this spectacular jazz influenced rendition by Postmodern Jukebox featuring the lovely Kate Davis.
Stripping down the original version, Postmodern Jukebox and Kate Davis team up to create an incredible jazz-infused, upright bass rendition (“All About That [Upright] Bass”- Get it!?). With a completely different sound, Postmodern Jukebox and Kate Davis’s version differs greatly from the original, but impresses all the same.
This cover may not feature the same star power that Jimmy Fallon’s version had, but where it lacks in star power it makes up for in talent. The combined musical talents of Postmodern Jukebox and Kate Davis create a completely unique sound that allow this version to shine, in my opinion, more so than Jimmy Fallon’s.
